I am going to put up a post shortly of my thoughts on who is a Canadian author.Bill Selneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17268006369157307593noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1644690488802388716.post-62371111947829345072012-10-25T19:22:27.223-06:002012-10-25T19:22:27.223-06:00John: Thanks for the comment. Mysteries are indeed written by a person (once in awhile a couple) not a management team.Bill Selneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17268006369157307593noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1644690488802388716.post-62915967992777340752012-10-25T09:04:03.158-06:002012-10-25T09:04:03.158-06:00Very interesting post. I want to learn more about the country. But if a Canadian author writes a good series not set in Canada, I can't ignore that (such as Alan Bradley). Does Peter Robinson count as a Canadian author?TracyKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08303342674824383688noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1644690488802388716.post-14923726663025952552012-10-25T07:18:00.547-06:002012-10-25T07:18:00.547-06:00what's going on in the mind of editors and pub...what's going on in the mind of editors and publishers? Do they really think that people choose to read novels based on setting alone? Sometimes I think business people waste their time thinking up phoney reasons and excuses for lack of sales. Soon publishers will go the route of movies with trial audiences sampling books in preview format before they actually get published and follwoing up with marketing questions like these: Did you like the ending? Did you identify with the lead character? What would make him/her more likeable? What about the setting? Did that ring true? Ugh. Art by committee always fails.J F Norrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06473487417479127354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1644690488802388716.post-80799899169533044512012-10-25T05:28:06.738-06:002012-10-25T05:28:06.738-06:00Bill - What an interesting topic! For me, part of the pleasure in reading Anthony Bidulka's novels, and Gail Bowen's too, is the Saskatchewan setting. Why take such an essential part of a story away? Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
