The Gray Man by Mark Greaney

19. - 532.) The Gray Man by Mark Greaney – Intrigued by the description that Grainey is the new Ludlum I read the book. He resembles Ludlum in the pounding excitement of a chase with a lone hero battling fierce odds. It is unlike Ludlum is that there is very little in character development and plot beyond a series of violent clashes between Courtney and his pursuers. It is a solid thriller plot with credible battles. Credibility is strained by Courtney going forward despite fearsome wounds and incredible odds. In contrast to Ludlum there is no secret conspiracy threatening the U.S. or the world. The writing is compelling. It is an excellent thriller when I am drawn irresistibly through the plot. I stayed up until to finish the book. I expect Courtney to return for further adventures. I hope the body count is lower on his next mission. Paperback. (May 4/10)
